Dear Jan
I am not sure if we have a direct relationship although surely we must be close!I was interested in your William because he married Maria Emma Eldred at about the same time that my William was marrying Mary Ann Fenn (a marriage I have struggled to find).I eventually reluctantly persuaded myself that your William was not my William although it seemed incredible that with such a dearth of McJannetts (however you spell them) two should turn up in London at the same time (like the 37 bus).I did wonder where your William had come from and where they went and, if Robert & Jane went with them.I also wondered, bearing in mind their Hackney-Stoke Newington locations, if they were related to the James McJannett, the ordnance offcer who married Ann Maria Lord in 1842 but died in 1851.This is another stray family which I cannot yet fit in but who were living in Hackney at the same time as your family.Coincidentally or not, several parts of my lot also eventually gravitated to that area (my mum, her mum and gran lived in Stoke Newington for years).I have not yet established the obvious Scottish (probably Ayrshire) origins for my side either so I am very interested in any particular links here.I would be delighted to hear some more of your details up and down the line and I will of course share with you anything from my side that may be of interest.I find it easier to communicate direct at the detail level and you may prefer to contact me on [email protected]
Look forward to hearing from you
Regards
Mick
