As for local-family lore, one of the local McIntyre involved in the Charlo church'supkeep (fabrique), states that as McIntyre's go, - without being able to name then - lore says three (protestant) brothers came from Barra, but only one converted to catholicism, and stayed, and the others moved on: one to Quebec or Ontario, the other to Southern New Brunswick. That's as far as lore goes.
Given the records (in my hypothesis), I would tend to believe Eleonor would actually be the one brother to convert, but also along with his nephew Jean/John by marrying Rose Bergeron dit D'Amboise. Since Eleonor leaves no male descendants, in the Charlo McIntyre clan, John B is the actual progenitor of further generations in the area.
If Edward came, he left to trace in the early Catholic records in the area, other than as father to Jean/John at his marriage (brief version, does not state where the parents are or live). Alexander the elder seems to hang around until at leat 1815 (witness at Eleonore death), but we know nothing else of him, if he married, etc.
He could be the third lore brothers (after Edward & Elenore), since we don't know exactly how he relates to the others, other than the dubious "frère" mention at Marie-Anne's marriage. If he is the brother of either John or Marie-Anne, then the third lore brother would be "Unknown")
