Hi Kevin
I brought up your General Forum message in
regards to the McIntosh family.I think
somehow we are related and are on the track
of William McIntosh and family.
Years ago I wrote my grandmother who was about 80 at the time living in Fort Meade,Fl.
about the history of her family, The McIntosh
family.
This is some of what she wrote"this is what
my half brothers and sisters told me.My father who was Wm Mcintosh had a brother Pat.
They lived in Newry,Ireland with their parents Wm McIntosh and mother Nancy Goodwin.
They were linen merchants in Ireland, my father came to the Us at age 15 with a friend
and a maid.He had a thousand dollars with
him.He was to look up an uncle in New York,
but found the uncle was very wealthy and did
not see him.So spent the money he had, did
all the sights and when the money was gone
he went to work.
He married Nancy Kearns in N.Y. state, I
believe my older half sister was born in NY.,
and she was baptized a catholic. Don't know
when he came to Illinois. His first family
was four girls and four boys.Their mother
died during the civil war, James and John,
the two boys were drummer boys in the civil war."
Then Wm McIntosh married Jane Fortner who was
my Grandmothers mother.My grandmother was
Alta, their only child. When I was a small
child we use to go to family reunions at the
Mann's family farm, Nellie and Al Mann with
all their children, don't remember their
names. My Grandmother wrote more on her
half brothers and sisters. One helped raise
her as her Mother Jane Fortner died when my
Grandmother was about 10.My Grandmother
married Gad Noble and moved to Chicago where
I grew up.
Thats all for now
