This is the will of Joseph Bevis and the distribution of his estate. This should prove he is the father of Sarah McIndoo and the names of the children he had.

WILL OF JOSEPH BEVIS
OWEN COUNTY, INDIANA
WRITTEN 25 SEPT 1854*
FILED 5 OCT 1854 PAGES 23 & 24

*Please note that Norman stated that Joseph came home from Spencer, Indiana and became too ill to go on. He stopped at the Mason home and died there. He gave a date of 26 Sept 1851. Since his will was written 25 Sept 1854, I do believe the other date is wrong.

I Joseph Bevis do hereby make my lasts will and testament as follows:
Term First:
I will and bequeath unto William Bevis my eldest son $10.00
Term Second:
I will and bequeath unto Daniel Bevis my third son $10.00
Term Third:
I will and bequeath unto Joseph W. Bevis my second son $10.00
Term Fourth:
I will and bequeath unto my Granddaughter which is the daughter of Walkin Davis $10.00
Term Fifth:
I will and bequeath unto Sarah Macadoo $10.00
Term Sixth:
I will and bequeath unto Joseph Mason my nephew ten dollars and all my wearing apparel.
Term Seventh:
I hereby authorize Joseph Mason my nephew to administer on my estate and pay all my just debts and funeral expenses and the property is all to be sold.
Term Eighth:
After the forgoing terms are all settled. I do will and bequeath unto Marriah Atkinson, Rebecca Kerl and John Bevis.

Signed Joseph Bevis his mark.

Signed sealed and delivered in the presents of William P. Weadly and Joseph Mason.

ESTATE PAPERS OF
JOSEPH BEVIS
1854 BOX #152 EST
1856 BOX #204 EST

Have the original copy of Joseph's will where he tried to sign his name. Witness to this will was Joseph Mason and William P. Headlee. There was an inventory of his belongings by Samuel Mounts and William Headlee. There are several receipts to the estate. He owned Lots #269 and #270 in the town of Spencer which were appraised at $54.30. There was a statement of all the heirs regarding the sale of these lots--"That the descendants left as his heirs, Sarah Macadoo wife of John Macadoo age 45 years, a resident of Owen County; Rebecca Curl age 32 wife of ______Curl a non resident of the state of Indiana; Marriah Adkinson, age 50, wife of ??Fardine?? Adkinson, a resident of Clay county, Joseph Beivs, age 43, a non resident, John Bevis, age 30 a non resident, Sarah Ann Davis infant heir of Elizabeth Davis, a non resident; William Bevis age 47, a non resident; and Daniel Bevis age 40, a non resident. There is a statement from Isaac E. Johnson the Guardian of Sarah Ann Davis the infant heir of Elizabeth Davis.
