My name, both middle and last, hail from family in california.Ive just started tracing the family history.
My great grand mother, Gertrude S. McIndoe born Catataquis Ontario Canada Dec 23 1875, lived in California as some of her children; Frank a. McIndoe and Helen Strunak.
She married James Clarence McIndoe Dec 15, 1897 in Ontario Canada.Gertrude participated in the Oklahoma land rush in 1889, pioneered a homestead in Caylet Alberta in 1902, entered the United States at Seattle in 1919, lived in Los angeles since 1930 and became a US citizen in 1937.She was related to Samuel Tilden who ran for president in 1876.I dont know much of the family history and am looking to piece it together and am using what i know of the relatives in california as a starting point.Family lore indicates that 2 brothers came from Scotland and settled in Canada before coming to the US.One settled in Vermon and one went down south.
