Hi, my great great grandfather Alexander DOUGLAS,was a draper in Charlotte Street Stranraer, in Wigtownshire Scotland. He was born in 1808, and died in 1868. He married twice. I am related to him through his first wife Jane Gullen who died 1844. He married his second wife, Margaret McIlwraith on 20th April 1854 in Newton Stewart, Wigtownshire. They had one child, Helen Morton DOUGLAS born in Stranraer in late June 1856. Margaret died in Charlotte Street Stranraer on 5th January 1907, aged 92.
If this is the McIlwraith connection you are seeking and you have any more information about Margaret and Alexander or their daughter Helen, I would like to hear from you.
