Sylvia,
Since I posted that message I have found a little more detail on Andrew. He was actually born earlier than I had thought, ca 1731, and was Rector of St Anne's in Belfast. He died in 1764, the year after his daughter, Rebecca, was born. I don't know of any siblings, but his father was also Andrew - a farmer from Donegal, who may have had a brother Thomas 1708-1777, merchant. Your John would be about 20 years younger than Andrew so a direct connection seems unlikely, though not impossible. I don't know whether any of this information strikes a chord with you?
Thanks for your message,
Oliver.
