Indiana McIlwains
Posted by: Edward McIlwain (ID *****5199) Date: May 29, 2004 at 12:01:46

My name is Edward A. McIlwain, son of John Harper McIlwain, son of Robert Evans McIlwain, of Grant County, Indiana. Our family came from the Everton and Nulltown areas of Fayette County, Indidna, where they served as Postmasters in the early 19th century. I believe they were descended from those McIlwains who came from the Carolinas in the latter part of the eighteenth century. Apparently, the name goes back to Ayreshire Scotland, near Maybole, and is connected to the McBean Clan. Although I am no genealogist, I do find the history interesting, and have been delighted to meet so many helpful individuals on-line. I am always interested to hear from a distant "cousin", and welcome mail from all concerned with the name and history. My address is "edmac3@indy.rr.com"
