Hi Nancy- If your info on the Hugh McIlvaine and Hugh Mcilvaine Jr are reliable and correct. Its is possible that the Jane McIlvaine married to William Hamilton of Leacock twp, Lancaster county, PA was the sister of Hugh Mcilvaine jr and the daughter of Hugh Mcilvaine Carmoney of Ireland.
William and Jean (Jane Mcilvaine ?) Hamilton had five sons and two daughters of Leacock twp.,Lancaster county, PA. Not sure on the birth dates of the five sons. But if Hugh was the first born son and William was the second. Its would fit under the naming pattern of the Presbyterian church. So what I am saying is that Jean (Jane) Mcilvaine father's was maybe Hugh. And William Hamilton mother and father was William and Mary.
Need to stop here for now and recollect my thought for question and answer forth coming future.Sincerely, Jim
