Agnes Giffen was the dau of Hugh Giffen and Jannet Bigger
The Giffen family and the Bigger family were very prominent
in the Belfast and Carnmoney area of Antrim, iin their times. especialy.
Hugh Giffen was born 2 Dec 1762 Carnmoney and married on
31 Dec 1786 Carnmoney Presbyterian Church and he died on
01 Jan 1852 Carnmoney. Jannet Bigger was born on
May 1764 and died 9 Jan 1853 Carnmoney.
On the IGI there was a listing for a Hugh McIlwaine who
was born about 1697 and was of Carnmoney, but no solid dates
and his wife was just listed as Mrs. Hugh McIlwaine.
Their son of the same name 1-Hugh McIlwaine was chr. 28 Aug 1713 Carnmoney..He could be the ancestor of all of our
McIlwaine's?
Also there was listed at the same place at ww.familysearch.org a Charles McIlwaine who married a mary Nelly Smith and had 2 sons that were also listed as 1-William chrr:22 Jun 1820 Carnmoney and 2-Samuel chr.19 Mar 1823 Carnmoney.
