I am Marc McIlrath born in 1962, Kansas. My Father is William Ralph McIlrath (1940), Grandfather John Dean McIlrath (1917), Great Grandfather Ralph McIlrath (1885-1972) who was married to Faith Dean. His parents were Isaac McIlrath (1850-1897) and Mary Ellen Wallace (1860-1936). Isaac had six siblings; James Hugh (1842-1925), Robert John(1844-1932), Agnes (died as child), Mary Martin (1855-1927), Sarah (1859-1891), and William David (1860-1933). Isaac was the son of James (1820-1862) who was married to Jane McMurrin (1820-1891). James also had many siblings; John, Robert Alexander (1812-1882), Hugh (1821-1904), Martin, Betty, Mary Ann, Agnes. James was the son of Robert McIlrath (1786) and Mary Martin (1794). Robert was the son of John McIlrath and Jane McGiven. Mary was the daughter of Daid Martin and Sarah Johnson. I'm told that Robert was born in Scotland, possibly at Airdrie. He and his brother(s) migrated to County Down and lived at Castle Vennon near Banbridge. Of Robert's sons, James and Hugh moved to the US, Martin moved to Australia. I have but a sketch of my family tree but I see some familiar names among those at this site. I also have copies of old family letters from the civil war. I'd be interested in learning more.
