Leora M. (Lewis) McIlrath Obit
TRAVERSE CITY — Leora May McIlrath, 100, of Traverse City died March 9, 2008, at Birchwood Nursing Center in Traverse City.
She was born on April 2, 1907, in Tipton, Mich., the daughter of Charles J. and Laura Woerner Lewis. Leora was a long-time resident of Okemos and East Lansing, where her husband taught journalism at Michigan State.
Leora is survived by her sons, William F., Thomas J. and Terrence L. McIlrath, along with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William McIlrath; her parents, brother, C. J. Lewis, and her sisters, Irene, Lucille and Lottie Lewis.
At her request, her body was donated to the Michigan State University Department of Anatomy. Memorial contributions may be directed to Michigan State University.
