I have 4 McHattons in Boone Co. 1850. Census pages 156B-161B-201B-224A. They are William, James, Mathew,& Robert.

My source is "The McHatton Family & Lucretia's Descendants" by Ida France Wing.
Page 4.- from Deed Book C (page 4) of Georgetown, Scott Co. KY is part a a deed listing Captain John MacHattons Children. So from this we know that Capt. John had a son born Dec 23, 1775 (most likey in Mifflin Co., PA).
Page 9 same source state" John McHatton, born 23, 1775 married Nancy Denny, daughter of _____ Denny, lived in Boone County, Kentucky. the children born to them were Matthew, John, James, William, Preston L & Patsey."
Also see Boyd, Albertal & Denny Genealogy http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cig?op+GET&db=adboyd&id-12980
William from the 1850 census is 44 yrs old-born about 1805.
The 1820 census for Boone Co. shows 2 McHattons-John & his son Mathew. John is listed as having 2 males 10-15(William is about 15). The 1830 census shows John with a male 20-30. (William would be 25). I don't have the 1940 census for Boone Co. but it should be checked. In 1842 William & Sarah J. Herndon marry & show up on the 1850 census.
