Barbara,
Re your ref to ancestor Catherine MCELHATTON who married John BROOKIE in 1778. Can you tell me if this marriage was by Rev. King at Upper West Concocheague Presbyterian Church in Mercersburg PA?
I have ancestors Catherine McElhatton (poss dau William) who married William ANDERSON (dpob family unknown) by Rev King at this church on Dec 20, 1773. In 1778 they co-owned land in Hamilton Cumberland Co PA on co-own basis with John and Mary BROOKIE (Catherine and Mary were sisters). In early 1780s both Anderson and Brookie families moved to area north of Lexington KY and in 1804 my Anderson line (uncertain of Brookie) joined large migration of Presbyterians north to Xenia Greene Co OH.
Seems almost too much of coincidence that we have this Brookie-McElhatton connection, is possibly a little garbled. I am looking for this ancestor ANDERSON family history. Very much enjoy discussing/sharing if you see connection. Thanks. Bill
