Hello, as for Samuel and James Alexander McHargue, they were brothers and both died in the War Between the States. Their father was James McHargue II, his father William McHargue I, his father Alexander McHargue I. Alexander I was living in Pennsylvania in 1745. William I fought in the War of the American Revolution. He received land as payment for service and settled in North Carolina in 1794. He eventually moved to what is now Corbin, Kentucky. His son James II stayed in North Carolina, where his last two sons, James Alexander and Samuel were born to his second wife Elizabeth. I can't find Frank A. McHargue, probably because some of the lines just got lost, but I feel confident I can assure you that he was kin in there somewhere. For I cannot find any other line of McHargue's in the United States except what comes down through Alexander McHargue I. My great grandmother was a McHargue and there are many in the family with a lot of history on the family McHargue. There are still family members living on the land and around in North Carolina and Kentucky that have been there since the late 1700's. If I can help any further, please feel free to contact me.
