Just wondered if you have ever come across the following as I have come to a bit of a standstill.

William McHARG born 1821 Stranraer, Wigs (on one particular census return it says he was born in Shannon, Wigs - we know this to be wrong). He died 1891 in Glasgow.

Above William McHARG married Christina WEATHERBY.

They had 6 known children:-

Deborah b. 1842 Leswalt, Wigs
Samuel b. 1844 Stranraer
William b. 1846 Leswalt, Wigs
Christina Isabella b. 1846 Leswalt, Wigs
George b. 1854 Edinburgh
Robert Allan b.1863 Glasgow

The family did move to Glasgow, as you can probably guess from the info.

Can't find any info prior to William's birth in 1821.
We don't know what happened to Deborah, William and Christina either. When the family moved to Glasgow they prospered and had a granary.

I am also looking for ancestors of a David CAUGHIE born Stranraer 1802 (his parents were Andrew CAUGHIE and Margaret THOMSON). I have a feeling they came from Ireland. I do know that David CAUGHIE was a teacher in a school in Stranraer in his youth before moving to Glasgow. "He was a native of Stranraer, living on the Banks of Loch Ryan".

Any information would be appreciated.

Coincidentally, the other side of my research (AIRD) originated from Ayrshire - Kilmarnock/Galston/Kilmaurs.

Many thanks.
