We now have 14 McHarg DNA project members with 13 finished tests and one pending. There are nine McHargues who all match genetically proving the paper trail that says that we descend from Alexander McHargue of Pennsylvania. There are four other men (plus one pending)who have tested with interesting results. The four who are not McHargues are 2 McHargs (from Ireland and Scotland) one Meharg from Ireland and one Mac Harg with origins from Ireland. All thirteen men show a match, proving that no matter the spelling variation, we all come from the same genetic McHarg/Meharg, etc. source. This connection goes back about 800 or 900 years. The amazing thing is the name and the DNA have held true after so many centuries. We are able to show how these men connect back in time and are anxious to have more McHarg participants. With the litte information we have, we are able to determine family groupings.

If you are a male McHarg, or some other variation of the name, please take part in this DNA surname project. Go to www.familytreedna.com/public/McHarg_McHargue for information and to sign up.
