Hi Tracy
The more I research the McHargs the more frustrated I get. My mother was Floy McHarg Miller. Her father Robert Alexander McHarg (b 1869 Maghera, Ireland), his father Archibald McHarg (1832 Maghera), his father John McHarg (1800 Ireland). I reach a dead end there. According to the 1880 US Census, Thomas McHarg--a widower--(b 1835) and his 13 year old son, Archie (b1867) were living in Columbia, Missouri (where my McHarg ancestors in the US come from). Archie's mother is noted as being born in Canada. I think Thomas is Robert Alexander's brother. My problem is trying to connect my family to the Canadian branch. Family history says "an ancestor" came to Missouri and then went back to Ireland. He returned and the ship ended up in Canada where he married and then moved to Texas. I know I am rambling but if any of this makes sense to anyone I would love to hear from you....John Miller
