Hi,
I believe I have spoken to a couple of you before.I have been reseraching the Tolbert/Talbert line that marries into the McHaney line several times.Rebecca Stewart and her sister Susan b. June 19, 1841(?), were the daughters of Ethelred (Theelie) Stewart and Nancy Rebecca Courtney m. Oct. 10, 1839 by Wm. Kennedy, J.P. in Clarke Co., AL. I am not sure which is the oldest sister. I don't have any dates for James' death, but on Feb. 9, 1846 Nancy remarries to William Talbert in Clarke Co.The two girls were raised by William and Nancy and both he and Nancy signed for Susan Stewart to marry William McHaney, which she did on June 4, 1857.Her sister Rebecca, married George McHaney on May 16, 1959.I am assuming that William McHaney and George McHaney are brothers. Also Susan and Rebecca's half-sister,Vicy, dau. of William Talbert and Nancy Rebecca Courtney Stewart Talbert, married Thomas McHaney on Mar. 3 or 10, 1978.I think that William McHaney, George McHaney and Thomas McHaney could all be brothers or Thomas may have been a nephew since his marriage is abt. 20 years later than William and George, but no proof as of yet.I also think that it is possible that Ethelred (Theelie) Stewart was married prior to Nancy Rebecca Cournty. I have found a marriage date between Ethelred Stewart and Arnena Cochran on Nov. 16, 1934 in Clarke Co.James Stewart a possible brother to Ethelred (Theelie) married Susannah Coatney/Courtney on Jan. 28, 1841.Susannah and Nancy Rebecca Courtney are sisters.I have hoped that since William Talbert raised the Stewart girls, they might have passed down in family Bibles or letters, etc. something about William and Nancy Rebecca Talbert.I have two different records, one states that both William and Nancy Talbert were born in Ireland and the other record states that only William was born in Ireland and Nancy was born in AL.I assume tht William must have had a strong Irish accent.Any mention on him or both he and Nancy on any records you may have found?Help is greatly appreciated.
