Hello, it's been a while since your post. I am wondering if you can help me. I am descended from Lt. William McGuire through his son John (Married to Jane/Jenny Shrader). Their son William McGuire, married to Lucretia Gillenwater(s) was my gr-gr-grandfather.

My Granddad McGuire never talked much, or seemed to know much, about the McGuires, and I suspect it may be because his father, Alexander Gratton McGuire, was orphaned young and raised by his maternal grandparents, the Gillenwaters.

I am trying to learn more about William McGuire, married to Lucretia Gillenwaters. He died about 1865, we know this because she remarried (Dempsey Smith) and she claimed to be a widow. Was William perhaps a Civil War vet?

If you can help in any way, I would be very grateful.
