Marcy, this may or may not be a help. I had an Amos McGuire that died Chickasaw, Mississippi in 1855. I did not know his wife's name but he did have a niece named Martha. I show her born 1844 in Chickasaw to Amos' brother William McGuire. Martha may have been a family name.
The McGuire family clan moved from S. Caroline to Georgia to Alabama to Mississippi to Louisiana. Both William and (my) Amos were sons of Elijah McGuire and wife Everett Williams. Elijah was the son of John McGuire and wife Rebecca Carter from Virginia / S. Carolina.
