Do you know whether Thomas McGuinnes could have started off in Liverpool before he went to Richmond? My grandfather was also a Thomas McGuinness, (born 1852, married 1872) son of James (born around 1822) and I think Mary. Is it possible James had a brother Thomas after whom my grandfather was named? I think James came to Liverpool (probably from County Antrim in Ireland) around the late 1830s to work in the building industry in the Liverpool docks. I know one of my father's sisters lived in Richmond for a time, and my parents also used to visit there.
