curious about my grandmother's real father (a Mcguffin)

My grandmother is Margaret Ellen Mcguffin (Harburn). I always thought that her maiden name was Chambers but have found out recently that her real father died when she was a small child and that her real last name was Mcguffin. She is of Irish decent and came here to MI from Canada. Does any of this sound familiar to anyone?
