Looking for more information on any McGuffey/McGuffee, McGuffie's of NC, particulary Wake County in 1790. Susannah/Susan married John Strickland there just before the census. Only one McGUFFEE there in Wake and that was Elizabeth with no adult males, but 2 boys and 3 total females. I imagine this was her mother, but who was her father? It looks like she had a brother, Hardy who married Edith Hunter in Wake in 1801.
John & Susannah went to Robertson TN, some say in 1803, this seems to be true, and he died there and she went on to Gallatin IL and I believe she was there in 1840 with her son. The part they were in became Saline IL and she was there in 1850 with another son, John, at the grand old age of 100. Was she really 100?? If so, she had children VERY old, or she was with grandchildren and not children....
If you have old ties to Wake NC (1750-1800) with your McGuffey line, please let me know!!
