Thank you for continuing your interest in Edmund McGuffy. We you ever able to link your line to him? We know that he married a daughter of Abraham Kuykendall and apparently returned to Rutherford (Buncombe Co.) NC with Abraham and four of his, Abraham's, nephews from Washington Co. NC (now TN). Looks like he was born in 1775 (age 7 in 1782) so that by the time Abraham returned, ca 1784/5, he had completed his schooling (2 years of schooling by Gideon Morris who died in 1799). Abraham's nephews were of the same age group as Edmund and he had young ones of his own. To add another youngster would not have been any inconvenience to old Abraham. Especially with all the kids of his own old enough to take care of themselves and to help with the others. I can just see that bunch of people returning to Rutherford Co. NC by wagon train. What a trip it must have been. Our only problem now is to learn the given name of Edmund's wife. I'm convinced that Sarah, daughter of old Abraham married Jacob Shipman and then George Saling. If you ever find anything, I do hope you'll let me know. Betty Kuykendall Price Notify Administrator about this message?
