Solomon, David & Edward Sr of Craven County SC mid 1700's
Posted by: Cynthia Lam (ID *****4251) Date: December 22, 2007 at 11:43:49
  of 1523

Searching South Carolina Archives:
I cannot find a will for Solomon who I suspect he was the older brother or father of Edward McGraw Sr. Any help appreciated on this Solomon McGraw who was probably born before 1720 and resided in Craven County South Carolina by January 1745. He more than likely died before 1771 or you know he would have been on the list of pardoned regulators. These 3 men conducted much business on co-ordinating dates over several years so he would have been there if he were able.

Until the Revolutionary War there were only 3 McGraws in the Craven County, SC Area, they were:
Solomon McGraw, Edward McGraw Sr & David McGraw

First appearance of each of these men:
1/4/1745--Solomon (first mention of Solomon McGraw in S.C.)
1/20/1745--Edward Sr (First mention of Edward McGraw Sr in S.C.)
6/25/1759-- David--Since Edward Sr Did not have a son named David, he was probably the son of Solomon, to further back up that relationship; both Solomon and David transacted land deals on 6/25/1759 which was the date of David McGraws first land deal.
