An update to the original posting by Sharon I.:
Edna C. Holdredge nee Easlick married George C. Bates, Jr, about 1905 or about 2-3 years after the untimely, tragic death of her first husband William D. Holdredge on 24 Aug 1902 in Medina, NY. It appears that there was one child out of that short-lived marriage, i.e., William D. Holdredge, Jr, and who was born 24 Feb 1903 in Medina, Orleans Co., NY. William, Jr was apparently adopted by his grandparents Daniel and Ida Holdredge of Medina. He was listed as their "grandson" in the 1910 Census for Medina but listed as their "son" for the 1920 Los Angeles Census.
Edna and George C. Bates, Jr (b. 1874, MA) were living in Manhattan, NY in the 1910 Census along with son Robert Bates, 1 year. Head of that household was Charles C. Bates, b. 1859, MA, and his wife Mary J., b. 1853, MA. Edna's father, Thomas E. Easlick, was living in the Morton House Hotel in Manhattan when he died from a fall there on 31 May 1900. A possible connection between Thomas Easlick, a theatrical impresario, and Edna's George, is that George was a Manhattan news reporter, per the 1910 Census.
Edna C. Bates was married to Thomas McGowan ( b. 25 Dec 1883, Ventura, CA) on 12 September 1919, also in Ventura, CA. I found Thomas with an office in 1920 Venice, but was unable to locate Edna and family in that 1920 Census.
