This is my second posting re Thomas MGowen.
Thomas married Edna C. Bates in Ventura. She was previously married to George E. Bates of Orleans Co., NY.
Prior to George, she was briefly married to William D. Holdredge of Phelps, NY, and who, at about 20 years, fell to his death from his father's business roof-top while flying a kite.
Edna Chimebells Easlick was born to Thomas E. Easlick and Jenny Johnston and who were both circus performers. They performed with the stage name of "Miaco".
Thomas died from a fall in the Morton House Hotel in NYC in 1900. His will included a bequest of $53,000 to Edna, his only child.
Sometime(abt 1912), following Bates death in 1909 NY, Edna (Aedene, Edene) married Thomas McGowen in Ventura, CA.
The Bates enumerated with the McGowens in the 1930 L.A. Census were likely associated with Edna's marriage to George who died about 1909.
Thomas Easlick and wife Jenny are interred in the Easlick Mausoleum, Boxwood Cemetery, Ridgeway, Orleans Co., NY. I have much data on Thomas Easlick but little on the McGowen clan. Most of my data for Edna, Thomas and Jenny, has been extracted from the NY Times Archives and from the Orleans County, NY, Roots Web Site.
