McGowan Family Pre-1910 Adams County, Ohio

I am trying to trace my family back to Ireland, but am having A LOT of trouble finding out anything. My grandfather was George McGowan (1912-1999), he lived in Adams County, Ohio his entire life. His father, my great-grandfather was either Edward or Edwin McGowan. I know that he died in Adams County, but I can't find a birtdate or anything further than this. If anyone can help me out it would be greatly appreciated.
