Kathleen,
At this time in my research, I don't have any close McGoverns who lived in Ohio. My grt-grt grandfather, Terence, Wife Bridget (Carson) and (about 8) children, moved (directly?) from Monroe Co., N.Y. to Waukesha Co., WI in 1848. He petitioned for citizenship in 1844 and rec'd his citizenship in 1846 in Rochester, Monroe Co., N.Y. His petition gave his residence as Henrietta Twp. I have a copy of those papers.
Anecdotal info from my aunt was that he received his citizenship in 1853, but I have not been able to verify that.
Bill McGovern
