I am researching the same line. I have it back to Robert McGough b 1725 in Ireland d abt 1788 in NC and Sarah Matilda Carson b 1729 Ireland
I know of the following children all born in county Down Ireland
1. John b abt 1761,
2. Issabella b abt 1764,
3. Robert b Dec 1 1765 and died Oct 26 1827 in summerfield Dallas Co. AL Married Agnes "Nancy" McWhorter b. Jun 8 1766 Charlotte, Mecklenburg NC (they are both buried in the Mt. Pleasant Pres, Dallas Co. Alabama
4. William McGough b abt 1769
5 Sarah McGough b abt 1769
6. Mary McGough b abt 1771
Robert McGough and Agnes McWhorter had the following children.
1. John b abt 1787 in Ft. Augusta Richmond Co. GA d Nov 1840 in Coosa Co. AL married Elizabeth "Polly" Brooks June 26 1810 in Christian Co. KY
2. Unknown McGough b abt 1789
3. James McGough b 1790 Ft. Augusta GA
4. Elizabeth McGough b July 19 1795
5. Mary "Polly" McGough b Sep 12 1795 d Mar 1 1885 Dallas Co. AL
6. Agnes "Nancy" McGough b Sep 25 1798 d Aug 31 1876 married Lloyd F. Johnson Sep 11 1822
7. Robert Joseph McGough b Mar 4 1801 d aug 2 1878 Union Parish LA
