I don't know much about my Charles Mc(G)Laughlin line but I have been told by family members that the name was once spelled McGloughlin. I have found it several other ways also. My great grandfather, Charles (Charley) McLaughlin may have been born in TX or at least that is what the 1900 census St. Louis Co., MO says. It also says that his parents were from TX. My Charles (according to the 1900 census) was borm 1853 in TX. I know that he died in TX sometime after 1900 but don't know when. I don't know who his wife was but they had at least two children. My grandmother, Tracy (Tressa) Ellen McLaughlin b: July 1892 in MO d: 1915 in TX and Thomas McLaughlin b: May 1890 in MO d:?. For some reason Charles moved back to TX with my grandmother after 1900. They lived with Charles' sister (Margaret Ellen McLaughlin Nichols) and family when they first moved back.
My grandmother named my mother Edna Irene. I'm wondering if the name Irene could have come from the Nancy Irene mentioned in your post. Could they have been related?
Any help or leads would be greatly appreciated. I have had a very hard time finding out anything about my Mc(G)Laughlin/McGloughlin family. Thanks in advance. Lyndal
