Don, I, too, have spent hours deciphering John's pension papers and I think I can fill in a few words for you but I have also read a few things differently than you - nothing major but just different. I'll try to post my differences immediately after yours with yours marked "D" for Don and mine with "F" for Frieda. I had read it at Col Samual Doak ___________ D:...citizen of Mechlinburg County in the state of North Carolina on Brookins Creek. F: I read the name of the creek as Crooked Creek. _________ D: ...Ogacher(?) River F: I read it as "Ogichaw" River but that's a stretch for me ____________ D: ... Agusta on Svanah river, when he remained a short time, when they troops //// order to SO to Brian //// Bridges, when they //// and that he was in a battle .... F: ... Agusta on French river, where he remained a short time, when they troops received order to go to Brian Bank Bridge where they marched and that he was in a battle ... _________ D: ... at what time it was fought his memory does not at this late //// serve him. F:... at what time it was fought his memory does not at this late date serve him. ______ D: ... From there he was marched to ///sberg where he was stationed for some time, but the //// time he cannot at present state. F: ... From there he was marched to Ironsberg where he was stationed for some time, but the precise time he cannot at present state. ___________ In describing his wound, you read it as "the bone pressing through the fleshy part of the leg". I read it as "the ball passing through the fleshy part of the leg." ________ D: .... From there he was removed he thinks to a //// //// Midway. F: ....From there he was removed he thinks to a place called Midway. _______ D: .... joined the army again on the South side of Savanah in //// /// George Golfins. F: .... joined the army again on the South side of Savana in or near George Golfins. _________ You have the name of the fort as Storm Brown Fort. I have "Stone Brown Fort." __________ D: ..
