Hello again, Richard.
In reviewing the McGlothlen database, I've found no Canadian McGlothlen's in the mid-1800 time period. Nor have I found a Lydia McGlothlen. Is is possible that Lydia may have been a married name?

Closest McGlothlen to Canada I've found in the late 1800's is my great uncle, William "Willie" McGlothlen, who homesteaded on land in Beltrami county, MN.

We have one Sheppard in the McGlothlen database so far. Ruth Sheppard, born in early 1900's, married a Lem McGlothlen around 1930, believed to have lived near Des Moines. Members of Dallas Center First Brethern Church.
