Patrick McGloin & County Sligo, Ireland
Posted by: Jerry Pivak Date: January 18, 2000 at 11:57:47

My grandfather, Patrick McGloin, age 22, (possible first name of John, as in John Patrick McGloin) came to America from County Sligo, Ireland about 1914. He didn't talk about Ireland and I've had difficulty doing research (in Ireland) on him. His ship's manifest indicates he came from Sligo but the only record I could find was from a "workhouse" in Sligo when he was born, October 23, 1891, but no birth certificate showing parents names. He passed away at age 94. Any suggestions on where or who I might contact to acquire birth records would be helpful. The Sligo Heritage Society could offer no help. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you.
