Try Creek instead of Cherokee. Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina and Flordia belonged to the Creeks. The Cherokees were not historically related to tthis area. Majority of the people thinks that they are Cherokee, Apache, Navaho or Sioux. You may want to contact the MaChis Lower Creek Indian Tribe of Alabama, they have a large number of McGlauns in their tribe. The way you get in touch with them is as follows creeks@entercomp.com or call (334)894-6578, ask for Chief Pennie. Houston county was the last county creatwed in Alabama.
