Hi Joseph
I don't think that your grandmother was from Belfast. While doing family history(I live in Belfast and my maiden name was McGivern)I have never come across the name Rachel.I think she may have been from Banbridge as there were a lot of McGiverns there.I have a 1903 street directory and I see that your grandfather was a fireman. My Granny McGivern had 11 children and only 4 survived. This was quite common in those days as there were no abtibiotics and children died from simple illnesses.I notice from the directory that there was a Bernard McGivern in Banbridge who was dealer a grocer and spirit .He lived in Newry Street Banbridge.
Regards
May O'Toole(nee Mc Givern)
