Chuck; I am inclined to believe there was a Eli Hood Sr
b. abt 1825 in MS. Then Eli Hood II b. abt 1878 in MS.
Then an Eli Hood III b. in MS. Then your father John Earl
b. 1950 in MS ? Eli Hood Sr was son of Joseph Jackson and
Elizabeth McGinty. I have info on Joseph Jackson but none
on Elizabeth. Jerry McGinty and I discussed the possibility
that Elizabeth's maiden name was Hood. Do you have anything
on Elizabeth? There was another Eli McGinty b. in Conway
CO. AR in abt 1858 and d. in Comanche CO TX. That Eli has
quite a list of descendants all over. Annemarie Montera has
much info on that Eli McGinty. Annmarie list his full name
as Eli Jackson McGinty. My line of McGintys are from AR,
MS, GA, NC, PA, and Ireland. Jerry McGinty has more info
on our McGinty family than anyone I know. I will be happy
to share any info I have with anyone. I have several letters sent from Eli Hood Sr to my GrGf Thomas McGinty
and a few sent from Eli Jackson McGinty to Thomas also.
Eli Jackson McGinty was the grandson of Joseph Jackson and
very possibly Elizabeth McGinty. Joseph Jackson was b. in
NC or GA in abt 1772 the oldest son of Robert and Deborah
Jackson McGinty. Robert b. abt 1746 in PA son of John and
Rebecca McGinty. John b. in Donegal, Ireland and no info
on Rebecca's lineage. If I may state my favorites of all
the McGinty men they are: Rev Robert McGinty and Thomas
McGinty b. 1844 (my GrGf). It stands to reason that I
favor Rev Robert since I am a retired minister. Eli Hood Sr
was a deeply devoted Christian man from what I read in his
letters to half brother Thomas. God Bless from Arkansas
