Con. McGillicuddy, alias Von Dachelaer

While we believe the surname VON DACHELAER to be of Germanic origin, ca. 1640, Mynheer Derrick VON DACHELAER of Wageningen, Guelderland Province of the Netherlands had two daughters who married MC GILLICUDDIES from county Kerry, Ireland.

According to "The McGillicuddy Papers" by William Maziere Brady, D.D. published in 1867, the eldest VON DACHELAER daughter, Margaret, married Colonel Dennis MC GILLICUDDY. The second daughter, Lucretia, married Dennis' cousin, Daniel MC GILLICUDDY.

Daniel MC GILLICUDDY and Lucretia VON DACHELAER had two sons, 1. Dennis, who became "The McGillicuddy" and remained in Ireland, and 2. Cornelius, who assumed the name Rodrigo VON DACHELAER, and lived with his mother in Wageningen, Guelderland before moving to Lisbon, Portugal. This Cornelius or Rodrigo married, and had, inter alias, two sons who were respectively born in 1715 and 1718. In 1723, he gave his entire inheritance in the VON DACHELAER estate to his brother.

Our family is trying to trace this Cornelius as either a MC GILLICUDDY or using his VON DACHELAER alias. Any help will be greatly appreciated
