Hi Diana,

I just found one more tidbit of info that might be of use to you. There is a list of
Capt. Daniel Morgan Boone's Rangers, Greene County Missouri on this website:

Among the names listed is a John McGill. Remember, when McGill was at the Kansas Agency, Daniel Morgan Boone was the government farmer for the Kaw Indians.

It's at least a possiblity that John McGill knew Daniel Morgan Boone before he
(McGill) went to Kansas. General William Clark was the Superintendent of Indian Affairs at St. Louis and is supposed to have appointed both men to their positions.
