C. Elizabeth McGhee, Wish I could help you more with your "recent" Missouri line of McGhees. I do not have the names Fern, Clyde, or Mae Lewis McGhee in my record. You could, possibly, be connected to the Zera McGhee and Mary (Polly) Harris McGhee line of east Tennessee McGhees that moved to Missouri after 1850. Some of the McGhee family migrated and became well established in Missouri after 1850. Zera McGhee's (b.ca1778, d. 1836 in Tennessee) wife, Mary Harris, moved with some of their children ( John Franklin, Wiley B., and Cornelia) to Missouri after 1850. There is a long line of established McGhee geneaology in Missouri following them. You might begin by searching John Franklin McGhee or Wiley B. McGhee for possible connections. Wiley lived and farmed near Apison, Tennessee along with his brother Nehemiah between 1836 and 1850. One Neil McGhee has written a book (Unbroken Circles) about his Missouri connections to the Wiley B. McGhee family from Grainger and Hamilton County, Tennessee. According to Neil, some of the book is fact and some fiction. Whether you find Fern and Clyde there, I do not know. Perhaps this will help you get a start. Good luck.
