Hi, I'm new to this site. My g.g.gdfather was James McGeorg. (the family has always spelled it without the final e.) Bn. about 1800 in Scotland. It is unknown how or when he came into the US. He married Mary ? from Scotland. Child #1 Wm Barkley ch in Albany, Albany, NY in 1834. Child#2 Mary 1835 d. Chicago 1863 md. John W. Easson Child #3 James bn. 1837 in the civil war md Barbara Wray Child #4 Elizabeth bn 10 Oct 1840, Pittsburg d. 1922 md Charles Dana Barnes in Chicago 1866. Child #5 John 1843, Ohio
Child #6 Emma bn. 1847 Cincinnati d. 1935 md. Lewis Cox Chicago.
James served and died in the Civil War. Served with Illinois Light Art'y and died 1864 Nashville. Census records list that he was a roofer. Census records and etc almost always have the final e on the name but the family has always maintained no final e. Does anyone recognize this family ? James was possibly from Dunfries. I'd like any info about th3 name spelling, too. Thank you
Ann
