Milton McGee KC MO

Seeking information on Milton Elijah McGee. His father, James Hyatt McGee, came from KY and was one of the first settlers in what is now KC MO. James' name was spelled McGhee in his obit, but was everywhere else I've found it spelled without the H. I've never found Milt's name with the H in it.

Milt was involved in trade with Native Americans, perhaps in the Cherokee Strip, but certainly with the Sac and Fox in what is now southeastern KS, for which he was a registered agent.

I am convinced that this family is connected to my McGhees somehow, but have only surmise to support that. What I know does not answer any questions, only raises them, and in one instance creates very serious confusion. Any help appreciated.
