ASA Magee/McGee/McGhee born abt 1884-85 married Nancy Majors in Jefferson County TN was the son of JAMES Magee born 1761/62 in Albemarle Parish, Sussex County VA, the son of RALPH Magee and his wife Ann. James' wife is unknown. ASA had brothers ZERA, GREEN and BARTLEY and from his Revolutionary War Pension Applicaton, it appears that probably some of his older children were born in North Carolina, "in the fall of 1778 he moved to Orange County NC to his brother-in-laws. then to Caswell
Co.., having married. He was drafted the last of June or 1st of July 1780 in Caswell, NC. He stated that after the war he lived in Caswell Co NC for some time, then the Hollows of Adkin, then he removed to Henry Co State of Virginia, where he lived for two years-from thence he removed to the State of Tennessee Greene County, where he now lives, at this time (1832) called Jefferson". (Jefferson Co from Greene Co 1792 Note: That portion of Jefferson Co became Hamblen 1860)
James Magee (the way he signed his Rev War app.) left no will, he deeded everything to his youngest son BARTLEY on the condition he would be able to live there and be taken care of as needed. He is in Bartley's household in the 1850 census, he would have been 88 yrs old. From the way Bartley worded his will, I'm wondering if James didn't give his older children what he thought he could afford when they married.
