Hello Ken

My name is Carmel Rogan and I my connection is to James McGaw born 25.12.1840 in Drumore Kirkmaiden Wigtown who arrived in Australia in 1860 aged 20 with his wife Jane and baby daughter Anna aged 6 months they had three sons born in Australia one of whom James is my great grandfather. Gabriel McGaw and Margaret Shaw are listed on the IGI as James's parents and from the little information I have gathered Gabriel was not a common name and indications are that they could be of the one family. The Gabriel listed on the IGI born 14 December 1805 and married to a Martha McGaw could be Gabriel's parents but there is another Gabriel born in 1813 whose parents are listed as William McGaw and Helen Maxwell. Another generation back would be your Gabriel so I would be interested in following up on your family line, you may have information to assist if there is any connection or not.
