John McGaughey/Elizabeth Thompson VS. John McGaughey/Jane Adams

Apparently two John McGaughey's came out of the Rowan/Iredell counties, both born in the 1770's or 1760's. Both moved to Georgia around same time. One married Elizabeth Thompson, the other married Jane Adams. Need help sorting these John's out.

In the revolutionary war records for a John McGaughey, a James McGaughey of Walton County Georgia stated that his brother John was born in 1763, left Iredell for Hancock county, Ga. in 1788. Married Jane Adams in 3-10-1792 Hancock County. The area of Hancock county became Greene county. John & family moved to Jackson county, Ga. then to Mississippi and John died in 1815. John and Jane's children were: Rebcca, Polly, Betsy, James, Osborn, Seborn, Umphrey, Edy and John Jr.

OTHER RESEARCH suggests that a James McGaughey of Walton County, Ga. had a brother named John who married an Elizabeth Thompson 8-7-1783 in Rowan County, NC. Their children were: Charlotte, John Jr., Michael W., Lavina and Elizabeth. They lived in Columbia County, Ga. this John also was a Revolutionary Soldier.

Trying to figure out who is who!! Any help is much appreciated.
