SARAH ELLEN BEECRAFT September 16, 1894 in Machanicsburg, Sangamon Co., Il, daughter of GEORG
BEECRAFT and MATILAD WATERMAN. She was born January 18, 1867 in Loami, IL1, and died March 04, 1942
in Springfield, Sangamon Co., IL1.

----Was Struck By Car Last June 16.
----Newton Jasper McGath, 81 of 931 S Seventeenth St., dies at 6:40 a.m. yesterday at St. John's hospital of
injuries suffered June 16, when he was struck by a car driven by Theodore Draper, of 321 N. Fifteenth St., at
Sixteenth St. and South DGrand
Ave. E. Coroner W.L. Dragoo will hold an inquest. ----Mr. McGath had been a resident of Springfield for 11
years. He was born April 20, 1866, in Mechanicsburg, and was married on Sept. 16. 1897, to Sarah Becraft. He
was a member of Stuart Street
Christian church. ----He is survived by a stepdaughter, Mrs. Myrtle Blankenship, of city; one brother, Crate
McGath, of city; three sisters, Mrs. Ira Daniels, of Peoria, Mrs. Louise Thompson and Mrs. Anna Stillwell both
of city, and several nieces
and nephews. ---The body is at the Vancil funeral home.

at St. John's hospital following
an illness of three years. She was 75 years old. ----Mrs McGath was born at Loami. She had resided in
Springfield the last four years. She is survived by her husband, Newton; a daughter Mrs. Luther Blankenship,
Springfield; two brothers, Bert
Becroft, Mechanicsburg, and John Becroft, Peoria; twelve grandchildren and fourteen great children. Remains
were removed to Vancil Funeral home.
