I am also searching for information about McGarritys found in Glasgow in the mid 1800's. My great-grandfather, William, was born in Coatbridge, near Glasgow, in 1868. he married Elizabeth Gibson, also from Coatbridge. Many of their children were born in nearby Bell's Hill, and later the whole family emmigrated to Canada in 1921, and eventually settled in Detroit, Michigan. I am wondering if William had any siblings whose family remain in Scotland. I believe he did, as my grandmother (now dead) had a cousin with whom she maintained contact, whose descendents have a toy store in Glasgow, I have heard.
