I am also descended from the McGarrity's from County Tyrone and have traced my history back to the following -
Patrick McGarrity (1811-1878)and Ann Logue (1824-1885) who came from the Newtonstewart area of County Tyrone. They had 5 children - Martha born 1844 , Charles born 1845 , Catherine born 1848 , Bernard born 1851 and Patrick born 1854.
I am descended from Patrick (born 1854). The family left the Newtonstewart area and came to Port Glasgow in Scotland between 1862 and 1864.
I know that 4 out of the 5 children came with their parents to Scotland but i cannot trace Catherine - see above , born 1848. I would love to trace my history from Patrick McGarrity backwards as strangely enough i have been living in County Westmeath for the last 2 years with my husband and son .

I would be deeply appreciative of any help or info

Warm wishes Stella McGarrity-Allan
