Hello Jerry,

Have you been successful in finding the location of your ancestors in Ireland? At first glance, the name would seem to be a variation of the original (Anglicized) McGeraghty spelling. Part of the Mag Oireachtaigh clan left their Sil Murray territory in Roscommon when they lost their ancestral home land and many moved to Western Ireland, Co. Mayo, etc. Some settled on the small island of Innishmurray, and it is intereting to note that at least one of the last descendents of the clan to have lived on the island spells his name Heraghty. It's one of those names that have numerous spellings, by the latest count over 20.

I'll be in touch.

Dennis
